La lógica experimenta actualmente un crecimiento vertiginoso. Acompañada de un impulso inter y transdisciplinario, se despliega como un saber que transforma la naturaleza de las nociones de epistemología y semántica. Es hora de que los filósofos se confronten a los problemas y a las nuevas preguntas esbozadas por estos avances. En verdad es manifiesto quehay ya algunos emprendimientos importantes en ese sentido. Emprendimientos que contribuyen en la exploración de nuevas direcciones del rol de la lógica como organon. Sin embargo, quienes provienen de una formación en ciencias humanas encuentran normalmente un obstáculo en el estilo frecuentemente muy técnico de estas contribuciones. La consecuencia es que se ven impedidos de acceder a nuevos resultados. Además, cabe resaltar que el escaso número de libros de texto y de introducciones apropiadas en diferentes idiomas, no contribuye a la difusión de estos aportes. Lamentablemente la lengua castellana no es una excepción.

El objetivo principal de nuestra colección es precisamente promover la publicación y traducción de obras introductorias y de referencia sobre los temas de nuestra colección en lengua castellana. Es de esperar que tales publicaciones contribuyan a establecer nuevos lazos y a consolidar los ya existentes entre las investigaciones en lingüística española y aquellas de lógica y epistemología.

In fact there is a widespread lack of textbooks and introductions in these fields and Spanish is unfortunately not an exception to this shortfall.

The aim of this series is to promote the publication and translation of textbooks in logic, philosophy of logic, epistemology and formal semantics in Spanish. This should also help to consolidate already existent links and build new ones between researches in Spanish linguistics, logic and epistemology.

La logique connaît de nos jours une période de croissance vertigineuse, bénéficiant d’un élan trans- et interdisciplinaire qui est en train de transformer la nature même de l’épistémologie. Le temps est venu pour les philosophes de se confronter aux problèmes liés à ces développements, et il est manifeste que, déjà, nombre d’entre eux ont pris en compte le renouveau de l’ancien statut de la logique comme organon. Cependant, le style très souvent technique de la publication des nouveaux résultats rend ces derniers difficiles d’accès aux chercheurs de formation purement philosophique qui auraient pourtant à les considérer et à évaluer leurs conséquences pour la théorie de la connaissance et l’épistémologie. En fait, les manuels et les introductions aux développements récents de la logique et de l’épistémologie sont particulièrement rares en langue française. Le but poursuivi par cette collection est donc de promouvoir la traduction et la publication d’ouvrages introductifs et de référence dans le domaine de la logique et sa philosophie, et celui de l’épistémologie. Il est à espérer aussi que de telles publications contribuent au rapprochement de la grande tradition française de l’histoire des sciences et de la philosophie analytique.

English Abstract

Logic is nowadays growing at a breathtaking pace with a trans- and interdisciplinary élan which is transforming the very nature of the notion of epistemology. The time is ripe for philosophers to take up the challenges resulting from this impulse and indeed there are clear signals that many philosophers have already responded by taking upon themselves the task of reinstating logic in a new version of its old role of organon. However, the often highly technical style of publication of new results makes it difficult for researchers from a purely philosophical background to reflect on them or study their epistemological consequences. In fact there is a widespread lack of textbooks and introductions on the new developments in logic and epistemology and in the French language this shortfall is particularly evident. The aim of this series is to promote the publication and translation of textbooks and introductions to logic, philosophy of logic and epistemology in French. This should also help to build a bridge between the great French tradition of the history of science and analytical philosophy.

Segundo Encuentro de Temas de Lógica

Reunión de trabajo con modalidad de workshop que se realizará en la localidad de La Falda, Provincia de Córdoba, durante todo el día 24 de octubre próximo.

Aprovechando la ocasión de las XVIII Jornadas de Epistemología e Historia de la Ciencia que comienzan el día siguiente, 25 de octubre, el encuentro tendrá lugar en el mismo hotel donde se realizan las Jornadas. ( www.ffyh.unc.edu.ar/ejorn )

El objetivo principal del encuentro es el intercambio de opiniones sobre los temas en que se esté trabajando. Planteamos para este nuevo encuentro que las contribuciones sean originales, evitando así que se repitan las presentaciones del encuentro y de las Jornadas de Epistemología. Si bien no es necesario que se envíe con anterioridad un resumen o ponencia, rogamos no obstante que se envíe un título o referencia brevísima de la temática que se abordará.

El desarrollo del encuentro será algo informal y en él todos nos escucharemos a todos. Se recomienda por tanto que se calcule el tiempo disponible en 40 minutos (30 minutos para la exposición y por lo menos 10 minutos para la discusión). Por supuesto, si alguien así lo decide puede sólo escuchar a los demás.

A fin de posibilitar la organización del encuentro, cobraremos este año una módica y muy accesible inscripción a los participantes.

Hilary Putnam, the Cogan University Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Harvard, one of the central figures of contemporary philosophy, will visit UCD School of Philosophy, March 11-15 2007, to deliver a series of postgraduate seminars. He will be accompanied by his wife, the philosopher Ruth Anna Putnam, who will also lecture in the School of Philosophy.

Their visit culminates in a major international conference (UCD March 11-14) marking Putnam’s 80th birthday with his friends, colleagues and former students
